Welcome to Sun Pirate Renewable Energy Technician Solar Training
These online solar training courses concentrate on the basics of installing code compliant solar energy systems. These online solar training courses will be useful for people who currently work in or plan to be employed in the renewable energy industry. Student technicians will learn the practical design criteria, installation guidelines, safety issues, maintenance, and legal considerations of solar hot water heating systems and/or photovoltaic power systems through our solar thermal and photovoltaic training.The Sun Pirate Renewable Energy Technician courses are designed to follow the Task Analyses developed by commitees of subject matter experts and adopted by North American Board of Energy Practictioners and in accordance with Interstate Renewable Energy Council/ IPSQ Standard 01021.(Currently Sun Pirate is recognized by Interstate Renewable Energy Council as an Accredited Continuing Education Provider for Fundamentals of Solar Hot Water Heating. Photovoltaic System Design & Installation is in the process of receiving accredidation.)

Photovoltaic System Design & Installation
This online solar training course will provide the student technician with the fundamental knowledge of photovoltaic system design and installation. This phtotovoltaic training will be suitable for a supervised, entry level position with a dealer/installer or other photovoltaic industry company. Student technicians will learn the practical design criteria, installation guidelines, safety issues, maintenance, and legal considerations of photovoltaic systems.

Instructor Bio
Roger Coghlan is president of Sun Pirate, Inc., a California Solar Contracting business operating in the North San Francisco Bay Area since 1981. He has a B.A. degree in Environmental Studies and Planning, with a certificate in Energy Management and Design from Sonoma State University. He has developed the curriculum and is the instructor for Fundamentals of Solar Water Heating and other on-line solar training courses for the on the job renewable energy industry employee.
